ADELAAR is a classic Dutch schooner built originally as a cargo ship to sail between England, Sweden, Norway and Russia. The vessel was restored in 1981 at the same Dutch yard where she was originally built using the original photographs to restore the ship to her former grandeur. At this time she received a yacht-like interior, but kept her traditional schooner rigg. In 1991 she was refit in New Zealand and since 1993 she has been sailing the waters of Indonesia with occasional excursions to New Caledonia, Vanuatu, the Solomon Islands, and Papua New Guinea. ADELAAR specializes in exploring the Indonesian Archipelago. She typically sleeps a total of 16 passengers in 7 air-conditioned cabins. There are four separate heads, each with sink and mirror and three very nice showers. The Indonesian chef prepares a splendid mix of Indonesian and Western favorites served buffet style from the galley. ADELAAR specializes in trips that are filled with wonderful cultural experiences. Scuba diving is available onboard by special arrangement for certified divers. Pricing is at a rate of 24,000 per week, inclusive of the ship’s crew and meals onboard. Shore excursions, scuba diving, etc. is at extra cost.
